Personality Trait 2 - We Are All Greedy
Would you like ÂŁ100 or ÂŁ1000? 1 car or 2? Given a choice we will always try to get the most possible and as a result are never completely satisfied.
For example, many people remain financially poor because they continually spend all their hard earned money on new and expensive goods.
New phones, new cars, new video games, new clothes the list is endless! We are never satisfied with what we have and we always want more.
Advertisers know this personality characteristic VERY well! When I studied psychology in advertising, it was clear advertisers exploited the greed characteristic.
Ever wonder why things go in and out of fashion every season? By changing what’s fashionable they can make people buy something new, even if there is nothing wrong with what they already have!
However as with laziness, greed can also be used for good. A desire for more goods or status, can prove to be an extremely powerful motivator to succeed.
Personality Trait 3 -We Are All AmbitiousÂ
Everything we do is motivated by a desire to improve our quality of life. This can range from small short term improvements such as improving our mood by eating food, to larger long term improvements such as starting a business and becoming financially independent.
Being ambitious can really help an individual to become successful. This is especially true if they are competing against someone else, such as in sporting events for a certain position or prize.
Unfortunately, the society we live in tends to promote greater ambition for short term gain and dissuasion from longer term gain, by continually tempting the consumer with short term quick fixes (immediate gratification).
However for those who are able to delay gratification, extreme discipline, determination and focus usually develop.

Yeah we really should work more and spend less and less time with loved ones…unless one is working day and night and ignoring those ‘lazy’ activities of human interaction with those people who encourage, support, love, care for, challenge, laugh, and cry for and with us thus providing and satisfying our basic, primal needs then one is just wasting time. So that is why there is so much collective distress and dissonance within our culture…we don’t work enough. Bring back the industrial revolution…why not even slave labor…those systems seem to work out well. How silly would a socio-economic system be that was fundamentally based on the sequential and definite satisfaction of our basic human needs? Oh that would be ridiculous wouldn’t it? Most definitely….so get to work you lazy ba#$%ards!
