Brainwashing The Subconscious Mind

  • New information has the ability to alter previously stored information.
  • The subconscious mind never stops recording new information.
  • This principle was used to Brainwash American soldiers during the Korean war.

In the previous article you were introduced to factors that influence the subconscious mind, and how society plays a role in influencing your subconscious.

In this article I will continue to explore these factors and discuss how previously stored information in the subconscious may be overridden with new information.

The Subconscious Is Always Recording

As we continue to grow our subconscious stores more and more information, constantly comparing newly acquired information with what has already been stored.

Frequently Entered Information Can Modify The Subconscious

Going back to our previous example. If you were to tell Jimmy he can do anything if he puts his mind to it, his subconscious will compare this statement to see if it agrees with what he has been told most his life.

In this case, most of the time he has heard the words ‘you can’t do that’ and so Jimmy’s subconscious will reject the new statement, as it is inconsistent with previously stored information.

However, if Jimmy were to hear the statement ”you can do anything” repeated many times by different people, his confidence and belief in himself would slowly start to rise.

Why? Because frequently entered information into the subconscious has the ability to modify, erase or replace previously stored information. If you only remember one thing from this article, remember that.

Brainwashing The Subconscious

A well known example of this is called ‘Brainwashing’ and first came to public attention during the Korean War, when American soldiers were ‘Brainwashed’ into believing America was now the enemy.

Using numerous techniques, the Koreans replaced the soldier’s belief that America was good with a belief that America was bad, by repeatedly exposing the soldiers to Korean propaganda.

Techniques You Can Use To Influence The Subconscious Mind

In my last article on goal setting, I stressed the importance of constantly reviewing your goals on a daily basis and the use of affirmations. I hope you are now beginning to understand why this is important.

Reviewing your goals and using affirmations daily will eventually begin to modify and replace your previous beliefs, with new beliefs that you would like to have. But this is typically a slow process as you are trying to override beliefs that have existed in the subconscious all your life.

However as shown by the ‘Brainwashing’ of the American soldiers, there are various techniques you can use to vastly speed up this process, but only if you directly target the subconscious mind.
