The other way to get a cheap computer desk is to purchase it second hand. There are excellent high quality desks that you can get very cheaply if you know where to look.

These will often contain many more features, and be larger than cheap new computer desks.

One of the best places to pick up a used desk, is at a car boot sale or garage sale. This can be advantageous as you can try out the desk, and haggle the price down!

Of course your success in finding a desk all depends on whether someone is selling one, which may not make this a viable option if you need a desk in a hurry.

Other places to look are eBay. Here you will find a large selection of desks, although unless you are doing a local pickup, you will have to pay extra for delivery.

You will also be unable to try out the desk before you buy it, which may result in you purchasing the wrong desk that is uncomfortable to work at.

Second hand stores are another possible source of cheap computer desks, and like car boot sales, you will probably find a higher end model for a very good price.

Look in your local paper weekly as many furniture stores have seasonal sales, or closing down sales, in which you may be able to find a cheap quality computer desk. Classified sections can also be a good place to look.

If your budget is very low there is always the option of building a desk yourself, which can be advantageous as you can design the desk to meet your height and functional requirements.

A simple desk can be constructed quite easily from 2 vertical pieces of wood, a flat top piece and a supporting horizontal piece that covers half of the back of the desk.
