The Foods That Slowly Kill You

Dangers Of Artificial Sweeteners

How you react to certain foods is largely dependant on your genetic makeup, however in general you are most likely to experience health problems with man made foods.

The most common of these are artificial sweeteners, which are often used as a sugar substitute.

Here is a list of the most common causes of food allergies, food intolerance and the health problems they can cause.

Wheat And Dairy Products

wheat food

Wheat and dairy products are a major cause of food allergies. Wheat intolerance in particular is extremely common.

Wheat and diary are very rich in sedatives called exorphins, and can cause you to feel tired or fall asleep after eating them.

Some of the symptoms of dairy and wheat intolerance include arthritis, asthma and migraines. These symptoms usually appear in later years of life, when adaptation to the food starts to break down.

Wheat is found in bread, piazza, pasta, pastry, muffins, cookies, ice cream, instant coffee and soy sauce. So if you have an allergy to wheat it can be very difficult to avoid.

Nightshades

The so called “deadly nightshade family” includes foods such as tomatoes, chillies, potatoes and tobacco.

Foods in the nightshade family can cause many symptoms including skin rashes, eczema and arthritis.

Natural Sweeteners

sugar

The body has compensation mechanisms to deal with natural sweeteners like sugar. One of these compensation mechanisms is insulin, which helps to lower blood glucose levels.

However the insulin response usually overcompensates, lowering the blood sugar too much, thereby making future cravings for sugar worse.

High Fructose Corn Syrup

High fructose corn syrup causes damage to the liver and does not activate blood sugar compensation mechanisms. It is also extremely addictive and strongly linked with obesity.

In the USA high fructose corn syrup is used in soft drinks such as Coca Cola and Pepsi. If you have seen the film Super Size Me, it is probably why the person experienced liver damage. However in Canada and Mexico regular sugar is used in soft drinks instead.

Sucralose (Splenda)

splenda dangers

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener that was discovered by accident during research on pesticides. Someone was told to “test” the sample, but heard “taste it” and found it to be very sweet.

Only 2 studies were done to test the safety of sucralose with 35 people, 12 of whom actually took any sucralose and did so for only for 4-5 days.

Aspartame is another artificial sweetener and commonly used as a low calorie sugar substitute. It is a brain excitotoxin that over stimulates the brain and damages neurons.

Aspartame can cause over 90 different symptoms including brain cancer. This article discusses aspartame sweeteners and aspartame dangers.

Aspartame is commonly found in soft drinks, especially diet products such as Diet Coke. It can also be found in chewing gum and potato chips.

Coca-cola is the most dangerous drink in the world!!!

  2. car parts nanny Says:

I think right now everything that we eat is already dangerous. One by one doctors are discovering new facts about food. Foods that we thought are safe to eat are now dangerous. Facts that should be thought long ago are only discovered.

  3. Martin Says:

You make some good points. A lot of the foods we thought were healthy, are now thought to be unhealthy. I think margarine is a good example of this.

It was once promoted to be healthier than butter, however today we know that trans fats and hydrogenated oils are extremely bad for us.

But i don’t think it’s all bad news. If you stick with natural food that people have eaten for centuries, then you should be ok. In general it’s the artifical food that causes us the most problems.

However GM foods may pose a threat to the natural food supply in the future, which they are already doing to some extent depending on where you live. When they become widespread, things could become a lot more complicated.

“If you stick with natural food that people have eaten for centuries, then you should be okay.”
This is the basic conclusion that one should come to regarding this topic. The fundamentals of the entire human diet are found in natural foods, quite often in their raw, unaltered states.
The consumer that genuinely wishes to be more aware of the food s/he is putting in his/her body is left to do their own research, and believe me the resources are out there and are abundant. The problem is most people throughout modern history have simply been eating what “talking heads” have been telling them to eat. These “talking heads” are usually special-interest investors and chemical laboratories that hire “professionals” to speak publicly on behalf of their products, and to conduct slanted lab tests to show proof that their food products are “consumer safe”, possibly even benifitial to the consumer’s health. This all is of course marketing propaganda. The “Got Milk?” and “Where’s The Beef?” campaigns are perfect examples of this. And keep in mind that at one point, not in the too distant past, “professional” doctors where on TV, recommending to us which cigarette brands are the most benificial to smoke.
Unless you do your own research and keep an air of common sense about you, you can be easily sucked into what these”professionals” will tell you is good for you, or at least isn’t bad for you, only to find out later you’ve been drinking Cancer-Cola for 30 years!
Social conditioning, upbringing, school-regimented dietary practice, and low standards of commercial processed foods all result in every one of us having to start this process of “Do It Yourself” with an instilled handicap, and this makes it hard for a lot of people to start caring enough to change their dietary practices. By the age of 5 most of our food “addictions” have already set in. These addictions include processed sugars, dairy and wheat, among many, many lab-processed chemical additives. It’s a hard change to make, especially when the more topical sources of food information have proven to be faulty and slanted.
So, basically, do your own research, and eat with common sense.

  5. Martin Says:

You summed it up very well Aaron. People naturally tend to trust authority figures such as doctors, and food companies use this to their advantage.

What most people dont realise is that the experts who are telling you what you should eat, very often are funded by these large companies.

So whilst you think you are being given unbiased information, in reality you are just being given a cleverly disguised sales pitch.
