Face Yoga Exercise Videos – Series 2

This is series 2 of Jack Lalanne’s free face yoga exercise videos. Doing these face exercises 3-4 times a week will help to tone up your face and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by strengthening the muscles underneath your skin so that it does not sag.

If you can stop your skin from sagging, you can help to maintain a youthful looking appearance for much longer than you otherwise would because sagging skin is actually one of the major signs and causes of visible facial aging, and also, what is largely responsible for a person getting fine lines and wrinkles in the first place.

The whole purpose of doing facial exercises, or face lift exercises as they are sometimes called, is therefore to workout the muscles on your face just like you would workout the muscles on your body. The basic principles are the same.  The more you use your facial muscles the stronger they will become, and the less you use them, the weaker they become.

Face yoga exercise also involves the use of resistance exercises, although this time you won’t be using hand weights to create the resistance, but instead, the resistance will be created with your fingers.

It is this resistance which your muscles work against that is important for making them stronger, and although you will get some benefit from doing face exercises without applying resistance, you will get the most benefit with it.

Given enough time, face yoga exercises should help to make your face look younger and retain a youthful look as you age. How quickly you start to notice results from doing face exercises can vary depending on your starting point, although most people tend to notice results around the 1-3 month period.

However, if you do want to monitor your progress, then it is recommended that you photograph your face when you start your face exercise program, as the changes to your face will occur very gradually over a period of time. As a result, you may not notice any changes that occur if you are looking for them on a daily basis in the mirror.

Finally, face yoga exercises are something that should be done on a daily basis, or at least every other day, and incorporated into your normal everyday anti-aging skin care beauty routine.

So whether you exercise your face before you cleanse and tone or after you moisturize your skin, just try and get into the habit of doing it on a regular basis as that is going to provide you with the most benefit if you are able to stick with the program for the long term.

Stand behind a chair and lean forward over the back of it so that your hands are on the seat, lift your head up and down to exercise the back of your neck.

12

.

Face exercises for the neck and chin line.

Put the fingers of one hand in the centre of your forehead. Tilt your head back and forward working against the resistance created by your fingers. Don’t move your body, just your head. You want to apply some resistance, but do not push too hard.

You can make this exercise harder and get better results by tensing up your neck muscles as you move your head up and down.

This is good for increasing blood circulation, getting rid of nervous tension and making the neck look younger.

Jack recommends that you do this in the mornings.

13

.

Use a book to firm up your chin line and neckline.

Lie down face up across a chair. Put a book in your mouth and lift your head up towards your chest and then back down towards the floor. Now turn your head from left to right to exercise all of your neck muscles.

Biting down on a book will also help to tighten up the muscles on the sides of your face and prevent saggy jowls giving you a nice smooth look and contoured appearance.

14

.

Face exercises for a flabby chin line and neckline. Unlike fat on the rest of the body which can be hidden with clothes, you can’t hide the fat on your face and neck so it is important to exercise this area to keep it trim.

Lying down on the floor, lift your head up towards your chest and try to touch your chest with your chin. Now with your chin on your chest, try to turn your head from left to right.

Practice this a few times a day and you will have a much better chin and neckline fast.

For advanced students, Jack recommends doing the above exercise but this time with the fingers of one hand pressed against your forehead to create resistance and your neck muscles kept tense.

Good for relaxing and increasing blood circulation to the head.

15

.

Something for the skin, eyes and hair by increasing blood circulation to the head.

Either standing up or sitting down move your head around in a circle going clockwise and then anticlockwise. Hold onto something if you start to feel dizzy whilst doing this.

Now pull your head back as far as you can, then push your chin down into your chest.

Standing up, try to look behind you to the left and then to the right without moving your body.

16

.

Increase blood circulation to the head and benefit your hair.

Sitting down in a chair, bend forward so that your head is low towards the floor. In this position you can gently pat your face to increase blood circulation to the skin and tone up the facial muscles.

You can use a hairbrush to brush your hair in this position to increase scalp blood circulation and make your hair look more alive. Alternatively, you can use your fingers to give yourself a scalp massage.

Now something for the face.

Open your mouth as widely as possible and slowly purse your lips. With your lips together move your mouth from side to side.

Open your eyes and mouth at the same time. Tense everything up tightly and relax.

These movements can be done fast and slow and by doing them you are exercising the muscles around the mouth and eye areas.

Finish by bending over your chair and gently patting your face. If you have a mirror, look to see if your face looks red or has more color to it as this will indicate improved blood circulation to the face.

Jack then uses a “glamor stretcher” which is basically a thick elastic band to strengthen the mouth muscles.

New mothers and expectant mothers want to keep their looks for as long as possible, but due to not exercising their facial muscles, their skin can start to sag and they loose their looks prematurely. But this doesn’t have to happen if you start exercising the facial musculature system.

Open your mouth as wide as you can and purse your lips, repeat several times, and then move your mouth from side to side with your lips closed.

Now for something for around the eyes and around the mouth.

Open your eyes and mouth as wide as you can, then close your eyes and mouth tightly. Now try tensing all the muscles in your face and neck by doing silly faces.

Now finish off by leaning forward and bending over your chair whilst patting your face to increase blood circulation to the hair, skin, eyes and teeth.

This is good to do before you go to bed and when you wake up in the morning.

18

.

Jack talks about an exercise in his Exercise Guide To Facial Beauty that reveals how to exercise all the 55 muscles in the face for a firmer more youthful looking face.

Make a fist and put it underneath your chin. Without moving your head, drop your lower jaw so that you are pushing down against your fist. This can also be done with the palm of your hand.

19

.

Face exercises to firm up the bust line, throat and prevent you from getting a double chin.

Lie down on your back across the seat of a chair. Scoot back so that you can move your arms freely to the sides of your body.

Extend your arms out to your sides and lift them up and then back down again. This exercises the muscles in the chest area to firm up your bust line. As you are lifting your arms, lift your head up at the same time to workout your chin and throat area.

Be careful when getting off your chair.

The video ends with Jack on his knees on the floor. You can further workout your neck by lifting your head up and down and then side to side in this position.

This last face exercise video shows Jack doing mouth exercises. Open mouth wide and close tightly.

Open mouth and keep it open as you lift your head up and down and then later from side to side.

Jack says that you can’t get a flabby neck if you do these exercises regularly, and if you make sure that you are getting enough protein into your diet to keep everything firm.
