Hi Deven, I hope everything is going well for you.

There are many different types of meditation, but if you are new to meditation I won’t confuse you by listing all the different techniques.

All you really need to know is that meditation is a time when you focus your mind inwards on your body. A simple way to begin is by lying down and focusing on your breathing. Breath in through your nose, and out through your mouth. You should feel your stomach lift slightly if you are doing this correctly.

Do this breathing exercise for about 10 breaths, and while you are doing it imagine you are walking down a staircase, becoming more and more relaxed with each step.

The idea is to relax your body, slow your brainwaves down and then focus your thoughts on healing or things you would like to achieve.

Another relaxation technique is to imagine from your toes upward, a wave of relaxing energy slowly filling up your body, until it reaches your head.

I discuss these techniques in more detail in these articles:

There are more advanced techniques, but the basic idea is to relax your body and focus your mind. The programs you find on this page can help you achieve relaxation faster, than without using them.

Another form of meditation involves quietening the mind, so that you try and still the mind and think about nothing for as long as you can.
