Internal Motivation & Goal Setting
The first and most important factor in goal setting is your own internal level of motivation. This level should be measured when some time has passed after setting a goal.
Usually at the time of setting a goal, we feel quite enthusiastic and therefore our motivation levels are high. However, with the passage of time, the motivation for the goals we set starts to decrease and this is mainly because of our lack of input.

Once you have set a goal for yourself, after a week or two you should measure your level of motivation by asking questions to yourself regarding the goal.
Ask yourself about the actions which you have taken, and the actions which should have been taken. This will clearly indicate what your level of internal motivation is.
If you find that there were many actions which you should have taken but you did not, it means your internal goal motivation for goal setting is at very low levels.
Motivation Through Self Talk

One of the best methods to increase internal motivation for goal setting is through self-talk. Ask yourself the following questions to gauge your level of motivation.
1. Why have I set this goal for myself?
2. What will be the benefits if I achieve this goal?
3. What will be the drawbacks, if I fail to achieve?
4. How can I overcome my lack of motivation?
5. Am I satisfied with my goal setting progress?

One important thing to remember is the influence of subconscious mind during this self-conversation process. We think that we are only talking to ourselves and it is just a practice.
However, in reality we actually communicate with our subconscious mind. It then informs us about our goal setting progress by providing answers which we think or feel are coming from inside.
Motivation Through Discussions
Another important factor is to discuss your goal setting strategies with other people. Try to talk about your goals, the reasons you have set them and the desired results with your friends or siblings.
It is good if you listen to the advice and opinion of other people to build your own point of view. However only act what you think it’s best for you, and do not review your goal setting strategies repeatedly.
One good thing about disclosing your goals to other people is that it becomes observable. Now we become more concerned because we feel if we will not be able to achieve the goal, the other person will doubt our strengths.

Therefore, it somehow boosts our levels of motivation if we discuss and disclose our goals to other people. However, if you feel that a certain goal should not be disclosed, then it means you will have to put a lot of motivation yourself.
Goal Setting Motivation Through Visualizations
The basic reason for setting any goal is to achieve a desired outcome. This desired outcome can also be visualised the mind before actually achieving it.

Such visualizations can not only provide a lot of motivation, but they also help attract the desired situation according to the Law of Attention and the Law of Intention.
Once you have set a goal for yourself, visualize it in your mind after every two or three days that you have achieved the desired result. See yourself in the ideal situation, try to fill it with emotions and visualize it as real as you can.
Motivation Through Media
Media can be used to boost the levels of motivation for goal setting very easily. It is a kind of passive visualization, which occurs outside your mind.

Try to read inspirational stories, novels, blogs and books. Watching such movies and plays, which conciliate with your goal can also have considerable effects.
Listen to inspirational music and songs. Try to sing them yourself, and you will see a change in your mood and level of motivation.

It is now easier to find a book or movie of your choice through the internet. There are several online sites which offer free movies and books.
Try to find those books and movies which you think will provide you with motivation regarding your own goals.
Sometimes, the messages of a book or movie also help us in dealing with difficulties to achieve our set goals.
