How To Exercise On Vacation

Going on vacation is a time when everyone wants to relax and have fun. Unfortunately however, this can often result in you returning back home with a bit more weight then you started with.

So if you don’t want to pile on the pounds when you are on vacation, it is important that you at least get a little bit of exercise and not spend the whole day just lying on the beach.

The trouble is that when you are on vacation you don’t really feel like exercising, as all you want to do is relax and take it easy.

So the trick is to find a way to exercise that doesn’t seem like you’re exercising, and to do things which are fun so that you don’t mind doing them.

Here are some exercises you can do on vacation so that you can come back looking better than when you left.

Exercise By Walking On Your Vacation

Walking along the beach or walking when you are sightseeing, are both excellent ways to keep yourself fit when on vacation.

The good thing about these forms of exercise is that they are fun to do, especially when you have nice scenery to look at.

Exercise By Swimming On Your Vacation

Even swimming for a short time can help you to tone up your whole body, and improve the health of your cardiovascular system.

If you swim in the sea, you will have even more fun and it won’t seem like you are exercising at all.

Exercise With Watersports On Your Vacation

Watersports such as skiing, windsurfing, surfing or canoeing are a great way to introduce yourself to new types of activities you have been done before.

And because they are also quite demanding forms of exercise, they are an excellent way to lose weight and have fun in the process.

Exercise With Beach Games On Your Vacation

Even playing with a ball or a Frisbee on the beach can help you to tone up your arms, shoulders and even your legs. And because these are social activities, you get to exercise with your friends and have a good time while you’re at it.

If you are going with a group of friends, then volleyball is another good way to help you lose weight.

This is quite a demanding activity but it is also a lot of fun, so even though you are likely to feel tired after it you won’t while you are playing it because you will be having so much fun.

Exercise By Horse Riding On Your Vacation

Whilst horse riding may not be the most demanding activity you can do, an early morning ride can help you to boost your metabolism for the rest of the day and make you more active later on.

Alternatively, riding a horse at the end of the day can be a great way to unwind whilst also burning off a few extra pounds.

Keeping The Weight off

•    Once you get back home from holiday you probably aren’t going to be as active as you were, which means you put yourself in danger of regaining all the weight you lost.

•    So here are some tips on how you can continue to lose weight once you get back home.

•    If you swam every day when you were on holiday, find a pool that is close to you so that you can start swimming on a regular basis.

It is much easier to keep on doing something once you have developed it as a habit, so if you picked up any good exercise habits on holiday make sure you keep doing them!

•    If you went to a hot country on holiday you probably had to drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated.

When you get back home, keep up this habit by drinking lots of water on a regular basis.

This will also help to suppress hunger, so that you don’t start eating when you aren’t really hungry.

•    If you made smaller portions of food on holiday, keep up this habit when you get home by putting less on your plate.

This will encourage you to eat less, as it has been shown that people tend to eat whatever is on their plate regardless of how much is on it.

So if you use a smaller plate and eat smaller portions, you are likely to eat much less food throughout the course of the day.

•    If sightseeing is something you did on holiday then you probably walked a lot. When you get back home try to walk more often rather than taking the car for short journeys.

•    If there were certain sports you liked to play on holiday, try to see if you can do any of those at home. If you can’t, then experiment with other sports until you find something that you like.
