The Importance Of Helping Other People
- We all have customers in life.
- Our level of service determines our level of reward.
- By helping other people you will help yourself.
We live in a service economy. This means that in order for us to make money, we must exchange a service for a reward.
The principle of service therefore determines almost everything that happens to your life, as the amount of reward you receive, is directly proportional to the value of the service you provide.
We All Have Customers
In business, a company makes a profit by successfully serving a customer with goods and services at a cost above the price of production.
Just like businesses, individual people also have customers, and it is the satisfaction of those customers that ultimately determines the course of your career.

Who Are You Serving?
If your job involves directly dealing with customers, then your service to them determines your success.
For instance, if you were to open a new restaurant and then spend lots of money attracting new customers only to later provide poor service, it is unlikely those customers would return and your business would fail.

If your job involves working within an organization then your boss would be your customer, and your job would be to help your boss achieve the things he/she is expected to accomplish.
If you fail to satisfy your boss, by providing low quality work, you will loose your job.
Satisfy Your Customers!
In order to be successful at what you do, it is extremely important to identify and then satisfy the customers in your life.
If you can do this you will not only ensure they come back for more, but will also increase your value to them and therefore the value of rewards you receive.
You Reap What You Sow
The law of “sowing and reaping” states that the fields of your life are sown with the seeds of your actions, and the harvest you collect from those fields, is determined by the seeds you have sown.

In almost every single aspect of our lives this law can accurately explain what is happening to us, because it shows that what we are experiencing now is a direct result of our actions in the past, and therefore the actions we perform now will determine our future.
By Helping Others You Help Yourself
This is an extremely important concept to grasp, because what it means is that by helping other people to the best of your ability you automatically help yourself.
The more goals and objectives you can help people to accomplish, the more valuable you become to the world and the more prosperous you will become.
Sow Seeds Of Success, Not Seeds Of Failure
Unsuccessful people do not fully understand this concept and are most interested in serving themselves. When they do serve other people they do not put in much effort and as a result have bad relationships and poor jobs.

Successful people sprinkle the fields of their life with seeds of success. These seeds come in the form of many hours of hard work and good quality service, because they know that the seeds they plant now will determine the harvest they reap later.
Final Thoughts
It is quite clear that in order to get the things we want in life we must first help other people get the things they want, and this is done by providing a high level of service.
The more ways you can find to help other people achieve their goals the more valuable you will become, and the greater your rewards will be. These rewards may take the form of increased pay, better relationships or a more fulfilling life.

However, as dictated by the law of sowing and reaping, these rewards will always be proportional to the amount of effort you put into them.
You must therefore always try to provide the best quality service you can and work hard to increase the value of that service, because in the end by helping other people you will help yourself.
