The True Meaning Of Meditation
The following article was written by Mr. Kim, who is from Pakistan. He is a student of neuro-psychology, and interested in topics related to self-improvement, social relationships, mind sciences and metaphysics.
Meditation : Myth Or Reality?
It is quite possible that you have heard this term many times before, and may have even read several articles, books or listened audio tapes which address the significance and effects of meditation.
However, in the following articles you are going to read some very rare information, which is only available through expensive spiritual courses.
The reason I am making this precious information available free of cost over Internet, is to let people understand the true meaning and scope this term holds, and the tremendous benefits which one may achieve through the art of meditation.
It is not easy to understand it straight away as this would not do the information justice, and also the benefits would be minimised.
Therefore, I highly recommend to the readers to read this information in series as it is presented, and move to the next part only when you have understood the basic concepts of former part. As all the parts are inter-dependent on each other.
The Definition & Meaning Of Meditation

The literal definition of meditation is to focus on one point to such an extent that all other issues fade away. This term is somewhat similar to the term “Deliberation”.
Apart from its literal meaning, this term is mostly used in reference to being in a state of mind in which there would be no thoughts at all and the mind becomes static.
Often meditations are believed to offer many physiological and psychological benefits. Meditations are also sometimes referred to as the medium by which one may enter into the spiritual/quantum realms, thereby allowing you to experience the true face of reality.
The site listed below may help you more in understanding the detailed research studies taken out to observe how meditations bring biological changes.

Meditation Is More Than Relaxation
One of the major benefits people experience from meditation is relaxation. The more deep a meditation becomes, the deeper the level of relaxation you experience. This is why people often think of meditation as only a tool or a way to relax themselves.
However, it should be noted that if someone holds a true meditation, the relaxation is only a byproduct. I repeat, the relaxation experienced is only a byproduct. The real benefit which you gain through a true meditation, is something totally different and highly beneficial.
The Actual Meaning Of Meditation

If you deliberate on ancient and divine scriptures and relate it to present scientific discoveries, especially considering the knowledge of neuro-sciences, we come to a very interesting meaning of this practice.
Meditation is basically a practice which is being done by all of us, and for most of the time. Even now whilst you are reading these lines you are in a form of meditation.
In other words, meditation is another name for focus/attention. Any time you notice that your mind is focusing on some thoughts (either for a short or long time) you are in a state of meditation.
However the mind cannot focus on many things at once. Rather it always focuses on one subject/topic, and then proceeds to another topic/subject that catches its attention.
If this change of focus is too quick, then this would result in a defective meditation without visible benefits. But if it would be for some considerable time then it would be a true meditation, and with a true meditation will always come some sort of benefit.

This power of the mind can be understood with an example of sunrays. When sunrays strike and reflect randomly we see light everywhere, and although these rays are very hot they are diffracted and so they do not burn anything.
But if we focus the sunrays through a magnifying glass on a particular spot, the rays would burn anything in their target, be it a piece of wood or paper.
This is because the actual nature of these rays is made up of fire, but when diffracted they are unable to project this nature and so project “light” which is only a shadow of their true potential. Similarly, our mind has the actual nature of the whole universe.

Our Mind is the manifestation of all elements of nature which constitute the whole universe. When distracted, our mind is less effective and cannot complete any task properly. As a result, we live an unfulfilled and incomplete life.
On the other hand if focused, it can perform any task and as vast the universe is, as vast the boundaries of our mind are. However, it should be noted that our mind is not the supreme authority.
The Universal Laws
As we observe that nature and the whole universe is subjected to definite rules and laws. Therefore we must know these laws and act accordingly in order to make the maximum use of our mind.

There are several laws which are needed to be understood properly. However three laws are of crucial importance and should be understood well before doing a true meditation.
If you can understand these three-laws all other laws will automatically be understood by you with the passage of time. In the next article we shall look at the first of these three crucial and basic laws of the Universe.
