How To Organise Fear And Control Fear
Organise Fear
- Try to think about what is causing you fear.
- Planning can help overcome and eliminate potential fears.
- When dealing with fear use the left side of your brain!
When confronted with a fearful situation, step back and take the time to develop an organised response.
Often when people react to fear they do so immediately, and based on incomplete information.
When you react to fear immediately you react by reflex, which means you do not necessarily choose the best course of action and do so without full control.
Think Through Fears On Paper
A good tip is to think on paper, carefully review all the information, and then decide upon the best course of action to take.
By doing this you will not only give yourself a sense of control, but you will also likely choose the most appropriate and effective course of action.
The biological reason behind this is that when you react to fear immediately, you do so predominantly with the right side of your brain using an emotional response.
However this side of the brain does not critically analyse incoming information, which means the decisions you make are likely to be poor ones.
If you can stop and think about the situation, such as by writing it down on paper, you will engage the left side of your brain which is responsible for critical analysis and logical thought. This will allow you to take the best and most effective course of action.

In Brief -
People often react to their fears immediately, using the right emotional side of the brain. This leads to poor decision making, and ineffective action.
By stopping to think about a situation before acting, you will use your logical left brain and make the best decisions, and take the most effective action.
