The Subconscious Mind
Power Of The Subconscious Mind
- Your subconscious mind is like a video recorder that records everything.
- Early years of life have a big influence on the subconscious mind.
- Whatever the subconscious records, it will play back to you as a program.
In this article you will be briefly introduced to the subconscious mind, and the various factors that affect it throughout your life.
Understanding the subconscious mind is extremely important because it plays a big influence on the way you live your life, and how you feel about yourself.
Therefore once you are able to understand what your subconscious mind is, you will be in a better position to control it and to influence it yourself.
This will then allow you to remove negative limiting beliefs from your mind, beliefs which have most likely been stopping you from doing and achieving the things you want in life.
As a result, it would be no exaggeration to say that mastering your subconscious mind and unleashing it’s true power, is one of the most important things you can do to change your life for the better.

What Is The Subconscious Mind?
If you are unfamiliar with the subconscious mind, think of it as a video recorder that has recorded everything you have ever done or experienced.

Your subconscious mind then plays back programs to you (in the form of beliefs and behaviors) from information that has been frequently entered into it (especially during your first 6 years of life).
So basically your subconscious mind is like a storage dump of all the things you have been exposed to throughout your life.
Depending on how this stored information is graded, will then determine whether it has a positive or negative influence on your life.
Early Years Of Life Greatly Influence The Subconscious Mind
Your first 6 years of life are extremely important in shaping your subconscious mind, because as children we are genetically programmed to model (copy) those around us and therefore we rapidly acquire/absorb new information.
This information first comes from our parent’s and from them we learn what we can or can’t do and what is good or bad.
Because we have no frame of reference to compare this information against, our subconscious mind automatically accepts it as true.

Your Mind Is Not Yours
This is an extremely important concept to grasp, because what it means is that when you are born your mind is not your own.
Rather it is a hybrid copy of your parent’s minds, comprised of their beliefs and perceptions of the world. These beliefs and perceptions will then be used by the subconscious, to compare against all future information.
The trouble with this is that the beliefs you acquire as a child, tend to be graded as important information by the subconscious.
Unless those beliefs are overridden by you taking action to influence your subconscious, they will stay with you for the rest of your life and continue to influence the type of life you live.
If your parents gave you good beliefs that empowered you, then these subconscious beliefs are likely to help you throughout your life. As a result, the chances of you being a successful, happy and confident person will be high.
If however your parents gave you bad limiting beliefs, then these subconscious beliefs will cause you to live a self destructive life.
In order to change these beliefs, you need to reprogram your mind at the subconscious level so that you can replace bad beliefs with good beliefs. And there are many techniques you can use to do this.
How Beliefs Begin In The Subconscious Mind
Let’s have a look at an example to demonstrate how beliefs can be incorporated into the subconscious mind.
Jimmy was always told as a child ‘you can’t do that, stop it!’, whilst his brother Bobby was told ‘common Bobby, you can do it!’.

Later in life, Jimmy never believed very strongly in himself and always doubted his ability to accomplish a task.
Bobby on the other hand was extremely confident and always believed he could achieve anything he wanted.
This is a very simplistic example with only one external influence, but it does demonstrate how beliefs can be passed from parent to child and therefore why we share similar beliefs and characteristics.
It also shows the importance other people have on our subconscious mind, and the information we are exposed to.
Generally speaking, the more you are exposed to something, the greater the effect it will have on your subconscious mind.
So if you are constantly exposed to negative things throughout your life, they will only serve to reinforce the negative beliefs you have which will cause the subconscious to work against you rather than for you.
Control Your Subconscious Or It Will Control You!
This is why it is so important to reprogram the subconscious mind if you have bad beliefs, because if you allow them to stay there, it is unlikely you will ever achieve the things you want in life.
If you do get them, your subconscious may then cause you to do something to lose or destroy what you have because it doesn’t believe you should have them.
This is known as self sabotage, and is an extremely common consequence of negative beliefs in the subconscious mind.
