Skin Care Advice For People In Their 20’s
Skin Care In Your 20’s
By the time you reach the end of your teens your hormones will start to become balanced, and your skin will settle down from how it used to be during your teenage years.
One major exception to this is pregnancy, which can cause facial skin to start to breakout again.
Skin in your 20s can be keep looking great with minimal care, and in its ideal condition should be moist, glowing and without any wrinkles or sagging.
You may notice some wrinkles around your eyes or mouth, however these are not considered true wrinkles but rather expression lines.

Oil production in the skin starts to slow down in your 20’s as does the rate at which the skin renews itself.
Less oil production means any teenager who suffered from acne is likely to see a gradual reduction in acne outbreaks as they progress through their 20’s.
Basic Skin Care Routines In Your 20’s
A basic skin care routine for anyone in their 20’s should include cleansing, toning and moisturising the face twice a day.
It is very important to clean your face before you go to bed, because going to sleep with makeup on or with a dirty face prevents the skin from eliminating toxins. This can subsequently lead to inflammation and accelerated skin aging.
Skin Exfoliation
Since the rate of skin renewal slows down in your 20’s, it becomes more important to exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the face.

You can exfoliate your face with an alpha-hydroxy (AHA) or beta-hydroxy (BHA) acid exfoliant once a month, and use a facial scrub once or twice a week depending on your skin type.
Protecting Your Skin From The Sun
Sunscreen should be applied after your regular skin care routine, and always before going out into the sun.
If you will be spending a long time outside, it is important to remember to reapply your sunscreen every hour.
You should avoid spending time in the sun unprotected just to get a tan, or using a sunbed, as both of these will cause photosensitive aging which will appear as wrinkled and sagging skin later in life.

However it is ok to spend 10-15 minutes in the sun unprotected, as this is important for vitamin D production.
Exercise & Skin Health
In order for the skin to stay healthy it needs good blood circulation throughout the body. So make sure you get plenty of aerobic exercise such as walking.
Be careful if you swim as a form of aerobic exercise however, because the chlorine in the water is very damaging to the skin (the same applies to water from the shower).

Weight Loss & Sagging Skin
Most people first notice that they have gained weight in their 20’s. By the time they reach their late 20’s or early 30’s, they then try to do something about it by yo-yo dieting.
The trouble with this is that if you are overweight and then lose a lot of weight it will cause your skin to sag. So try to avoid this happening to you later in life by sticking to a low carbohydrate diet and avoiding all processed junk food.
