Meditation And The Law Of Schism

The following article was written by Mr. Kim, who is from Pakistan. He is a student of neuro-psychology, and interested in topics related to self-improvement, social relationships, mind sciences and metaphysics.

The Law Of Schism

In the last article, you learnt about the principles of the Law of Attention. Before we proceed to the next part, here is an online test you can take to test your own level of focus and attention.

Test Your Level Of Focus And Attention

Please take this test before proceeding any further, as this will let you know how much of a focused person you are. If you find that you are not very focused, then you need to change this habit of yours before attempting to do true meditation.

Remember this is very important because if you try and jump directly into meditation, most of your time will be wasted trying to become focused and so it is highly unlikely that you will receive any benefits.

If you find that you are lacking the ability to focus, try the following brain exercises which are designed to help you to become more focused.

Brain Exercises

There are ten exercises given, I personally advise you to do all the exercises in order and once you have achieved some level of success in them, return back to this article and continue reading further.

The Law Of Schism / Polarities

This is the second most important law of the metaphysical Universe. This law states that: “Every entity in the  universe possesses an equal and opposite entity”

The Universe & The Law Of Schism

The Law Of Schism is very similar to Newton’s third law of motion, which states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Basically, both statements point towards the same phenomenon. Our universe is bounded into polarities. If one thing exists then there must be an opposing force which also exists. Therefore, nothing can exist in our world without its direct opposite.

The following table will help you to understand this further.

Creator

Created

Good

Evil

Sweet

Bitter

Day

Night

Man

Animal

Light

Dark

Life

Death

Success

Failure

Male

Female

High

Low

Body

Soul

Through this table, you can easily see that all things which exist are always equated with a direct opposite to them. This allows us to fully understand and experience something.

For example, if we don’t know happiness, then how could we experience sadness? If we don’t know failure, then how could we distinguish success?

Therefore, in order to differentiate and provide opportunities with diversity, the Universe is created within the bounds of the Law of Schism. In the absence of this law, life becomes dry, similar and static.

Using The Power Of The Mind To Alter The Polarities

Similarly, our mind is also obedient to this law and whatever we perceive in one angle, always has a completely opposite angle. Interestingly, only a human mind has the power to shift polarities from one side to another.

This means that in our thoughts, we have polarities. A same thought of success has the potential to be perceived as a thought of failure. Similarly, a same thought of sadness has the potential to become a thought of happiness.

This power of shifting the polarities is confined in the human mind. Therefore it is true to say that there is no positive and negative outside the mind, as perception lies only within the mind of the beholder.

The human mind can shift any polarity from one extreme to another. Moreover, it can also balance the polarities and may maintain a balance of left and right, which is the ideal situation.

In ancient alchemy books, this was always symbolised as a Royal Union between the King & Queen.

The proper knowledge and use of this power of the mind is imperative, because in its absence we are unable to drive our life ourselves and fall victim to circumstances and the environment.

If a human mind knows how to use this power, it can easily shift any harmful polarity into a beneficial polarity, and with this shift, a shift of circumstances would be the result.

This means we can drive the circumstances, rather than the circumstances driving us.

The Driving Force Of Circumstances

However, it should be noted that like the Law of Attention, this law also does not create the circumstances. Rather it gives us the knowledge and power to act and change the pace of circumstances. If the Law of Attention is a car, then the Law of Schism is its steering.

Focus plays an important role in the shifting of polarities. A good and constant focus can easily find a hidden success in an open failure, and a hidden failure in an open success. Once it has found such a position of polarity, it can then change it accordingly.

Lets try to understand this more clearly with an example. Suppose you are sitting down and are enjoying watching your favourite T.V show, then all of sudden there is a power-failure.

The most obvious reaction would be of annoyance and anger. This is because your mind was enjoying something (a good polarity) but was suddenly interrupted (a bad polarity).

Now with a change of polarity you can turn this same event into something beneficial. For example, when you feel annoyed and angry, you can tell your mind this sudden power-failure has taught you an important lesson.

Things do not always work out as we expect them to, and so we should learn how to remain relaxed when things don’t happen as we want them to happen.

So through this example you can see that this and similar events, become a sort of exercise for your mind in dealing with unexpected happenings.

Similarly, almost all of our life situations are full of both polarities, and it is completely dependent upon our mind as to how we perceive them.

In the next article, we shall look this aspect of perception in more detail.
