Tips For Saving Money On Health & Other Things
Fitness & Money Saving Tips
Keeping fit and healthy is very important but it can also be expensive, however it doesn’t have to be.
Below you will find some tips which could save you money on these expenses.
Gym Memberships
If you want to join a gym, join when they offer special deals. Usually you will be able to get a discounted rate, or use the gym for free for a certain period of time.

If you know you will be going to the gym on a regular basis, you can save money by getting a long term membership rather than paying daily or weekly.
Don’t Go To The Gym
Exercising at gyms is expensive, and you can eliminate this cost by exercising at home.
All you really need for a good workout is a set of weights for anaerobic exercise, and a stationary bike, rebounder, skipping rope or step machine for aerobic exercise.
To exercise completely for free, use your own body weight for anaerobic exercise and run for aerobic exercise.
Clothing
Unless you require special clothing such as for weight lifting or swimming, don’t bother buying expensive clothes to exercise in. Instead wear some old clothes and trainers.
Cheap Exercise Equipment
Have a look on eBay, classified ads and in your local car boot sale for second hand exercise equipment. This will save you a lot of money rather than buying it new.
Personal Care Money Saving Tips
Here are some tips for saving money on everyday personal care items.

Haircuts
If you can avoid doing so, don’t get your hair cut or styled at expensive hair dressers. Use cheaper places instead, as they will often do just as good a job.
If you do want to go to an expensive hairdressers, do so for your main hair cut and then go to cheaper places for maintenance when your hair grows longer.
Colleges
Students who are training to become hairdressers, beauty therapists and masseurs need people to train on.
One way in which they do this is to offer their services cheaply via the college they are studying at.
This way you can get a massage, hair cut and beauty treatment at a fraction of the price they would normally cost.
Do It Yourself
Rather than going to a beauty salon to have your nails done or your hair coloured, do it yourself or get a friend to do it for you and you will be able to save yourself a lot of money.
Store Brands
You can avoid buying expensive brands of deodorants, creams, shampoos and other personal care items by getting store brands instead.
In most cases, the ingredients are exactly the same but at a fraction of the price.
The same also applies for medicinal products, where generic brands can be purchased very cheaply.
Buy Vitamins In Bulk
If you buy vitamins on a regular basis they probably cost you quite a lot of money over the course of the year. Instead of buying bottles of tablets, buy bulk vitamin powders instead.
These are exactly the same as what you would get from your local health food store, but are much cheaper and don’t have any bulkers or fillers in them.
All you have to do is get a measuring spoon and add your vitamins to a glass of water or fruit juice.
Face Cream
Instead of buying face cream, use coconut oil or emu oil instead. These are not only much cheaper, but are a lot better for your skin.
Tips For Saving Money On Household Expenses
I have already discussed some ways in which you can reduce household expenses in the following articles :
Here are a few extra tips.

Central Heating
If you are cold, put on some extra clothes instead of turning the heating up. And if you do have the heating on, make sure you close all the windows otherwise your heating bills will be very expensive.
During the summer, open windows between two adjacent rooms to create a draft. This is a great way to keep you cool, and reduce your need for air conditioning or fans.
Drying Clothes
If you have a washing line, dry your clothes outside instead of using a dryer.
If you don’t have a washing line, there are small foldable clothes lines you can buy to dry your clothes inside or in your garden.
Boiling Water
If you regularly make tea or coffee at home, only boil the amount of water you will require for your drink. There is no point wasting electricity boiling a full kettle just for one cup.
Other Money Saving Tips
Every penny you save will help you to regain better control over your finances, so here are a few extra tips on how to save money.

Books
Ten new books could easily cost you well over £100. To avoid spending so much money on books, buy them second hand from car boot sales or charity shops who will sell them to you for pennies.
If you want a greater selection and can afford to pay a bit more, try eBay.
Movies
By waiting a few months until after a film has been released, you can pick it up cheaply on DVD or rent it from your local store rather than going to the theatre to see it.
There are also places on the internet that will allow you to watch films for free online.
Car
If you own a car, don’t use it just because you have one. For short distances either walk or ride a bike, and you will save money on your transportation expenses.
Subscriptions
If you are subscribed to a magazine but find you no longer have the time to read it or have lost interest in it, cancel that subscription because it is a needless waste of money.
If you buy a newspaper everyday, try reading it online for free instead. The same applies to TV guides, look on the internet and you can see what’s on TV for free.
Use Deal Comparison Sites
Deal commparison sites will search different stores for the best price, so make sure you check them out first before you buy anything.
Find Coupons Online
Sometimes when you buy something online they will ask if you have a voucher code before you pay for your items.
Have a quick look on Google for “name of store + voucher codes” to see if there are any discount coupons you could use.
If you are in the UK and buy vitamins regularly, try “Healthspan voucher codes” and you will usually be able to get a £3 or £5 off voucher.
Holidays
Use the internet to find cheap airline tickets, and if you don’t mind where you go try and get a last minute ticket as these can go very cheaply.
If you are not travelling very far, work out if it would be cheaper for you to drive or take a bus.
Computers
If you need a computer get a machine that will do what you require of it, and avoid getting the most expensive model.
If you only browse the Internet and type documents, you can get a very cheap older computer from places like eBay that will do everything you want it to.
