This is especially true when plastics are heated, which causes these harmful chemicals to leach into the liquid or food. So whenever possible avoid using plastic kettles, soft drinks in plastic bottles or heating food in plastic containers.

3 – Use A Shower Filter

Tests have shown that you can absorb more chlorine by taking a 10 minute shower, than by drinking 8 glasses of the same water.

This occurs because when you take a shower the pores in your skin open up, causing your body to act like a sponge and absorb the chemicals and heavy metals that are present in the water.

Chlorine can be in either a gas or liquid form, which means the steam you breath from the shower contains chlorine that goes directly to your lungs.

4 – Take A Cold Shower

Alternating between a hot and cold shower is excellent for the circulatory system, nervous system, improving the immune system and for your skin.

An extra benefit of cold showers is that your skin pores will not open as much as with a hot shower, and there will be less steam produced so you will absorb less chemicals into your body.

Once you get used to it, you will love it!

5 – EMF Fields

Electronic devices produce electromagnetic fields, or EMF for short. These EMFs can come from computers, radio clocks, lights, mobile phones, wireless modems, electrical wiring and virtually anything that requires electricity.

EMFs can cause stress, produce feelings of unease and paranoia, increase risk of cancer, disrupt hormone functioning and weaken your immune system.

The affect of EMFs decrease with distance, so avoid sleeping next to radio alarm clocks or electrical sockets. If you have a mobile (cell) phone and keep it in your bedroom at night, switch it off. The same goes for wireless routers.

6 – Be Careful What Tea You Drink!

I know this is very stereotypical for an English person, but I love tea. I have drank it all my life, and it has numerous powerful health benefits.

However I was shocked to find out that the tea I was drinking may actually contain lots of harmful pesticides and chemicals.

It turns out that China tends to spray lots of pesticides on it’s tea, and very high levels of chemicals have been found in Chinese Green Tea. I now drink Japanese or Indian tea instead.

Also don’t be fooled by the label “organic”. Organic does not mean no chemicals are used, and often they are just as bad as the regular tea.

If you are concerned about fluoride in tea don’t be. Although fluoride is harmful, in tea it is found as calcium fluoride, a natural type of fluoride that has a low bio-availability. This means it is not absorbed very well by the body.

Fluoride in drinking water and toothpaste is found as sodium fluoride (or a variant of), and is extremely harmful and toxic to the body.

Additional note. One of the reasons that green tea is good for you is because it is a natural chelator of iron, which means it helps to remove excess iron from the body.

Whilst iron is needed in the body, too much iron may cause the body to “rust” making it more vulnerable to diseases, especially those of the brain.

In general, woman live long than men, and the reason they live longer may be due to the fact that menstural blood removes excess iron from the body.

So for men, drinking green tea daily can be a good way to prevent the build up of iron, however, there is one major downside.

Men who are genetically prediposed to hairloss may want to avoid drinking too much green tea, as one study showed that drinking green tea increased DHT levels by almost 200%. Whilst black tea reduced DHT levels.

The good news is that there is another very effective method of removing iron and other metals from the body. Inositol Hexaphosphate (IP-6) is an excellent chelator of heavy metals, and can be taken every 3-4 months as part of a heavy metal detoxification program.

7 – Don’t Use Microwaves!

Microwaves destroy nutrients and vitamins in food, so the body is essentially fed a dead nutritionally valueless food.

Microwave radiation can also change the structure of food, leading to the formation of cancer causing substances.

8 – Use Coriander

Sometimes when I used to eat food my mum prepared for me, I would get headaches. I later found out that the coriander leaves she put into the food, actually help detox the body by removing heavy metals (headaches are commonly experienced during detox).

Coriander leaf is most effective in my experience, but it also adds a flavor to the food which some people may dislike.

An alternative is to use ground coriander seeds, which add no noticeable flavor, and so can be sprinkled over any kind of food you eat. Freshly crushed seeds will add some flavour though.
